Our Mission

Edward L. Weidenfeld, named “one of Washington’s top lawyers” by the Washingtonian magazine, founded the Weidenfeld Law Firm, P.C. in 1983. The firm serves the legal needs of individuals, families, privately held businesses and nonprofit organizations. Specializing in wealth preservation, business and philanthropic planning, Mr. Weidenfeld is frequently quoted in The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Weidenfeld is a contributing author of Generations: Planning Your Legacy and Giving: Philanthropy for Everyone and is an editor of two national tax journals.

Mr. Weidenfeld served as counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee of Interior and Insular Affairs, a partner in the McKenna and Cuneo law firm and counsel to the 1980 Reagan Bush Campaign. He edited The Atomic Energy Law Journal. Three Presidents of the United States have appointed Mr. Weidenfeld to advisory positions. Mr. Weidenfeld has been an official election observer in the Philippines, Korea, Pakistan, Chile and Albania. He received the Medal of Peter the Great from the Russian Federation. Mr. Weidenfeld is co-chair of the Board of Visitors of the National Defense University and a member of the Board of Advisors of the Center for the Study of the Presidency. He is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the World.

He is a Life Member of the American Law Institute, a member of the American Bar Association, the Bar Association of the District of Columbia and the Philanthropic Advisors Network.

Mr. Weidenfeld is a director of the Danny and Sylvia Kaye Foundation and is Secretary of the D.C. Salvation Army Advisory Board. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and Columbia University School of Law.

Mr. Weidenfeld and his wife, Sheila, have two sons, Nicholas and Daniel.
